"Alton Water Volunteers : benefiting visitors and wildlife"

A diverse group of young and old from the local community united by a desire to improve the wildlife value of Alton Water.

Alton Water

Alton Water is the largest area of inland water in the picturesque county of Suffolk. It is situated just four miles south of Ipswich between the villages of Tattingstone, Holbrook and Stutton. It is also the largest County Wildlife Site in Suffolk. Extending to an area of 400 acres Alton Water provides the perfect location for walks, cycle rides, wildlife spotting and family picnics. Alton Water is owned and managed by Anglian Water.

Alton Water Volunteers are a diverse group of young and old united by a desire to improve the wildlife value of Alton Water. We have been actively involved with wildlife enhancement for over twelve years and have completed a range of tasks that would not have been possible by more conventional means. There is usually a strong practical element to our work and we have completed many projects large and small.
